At the Friday, September 21st BCHOA Board Meeting, the principals of Marina Beau Chene LLC, Jared Rieke and Garrett Griggs, presented their plans for the marina property in Beau Chene. They recently acquired the marina from Marina Beau Chene Associates, Inc. earlier this year. The new owners of the marina have been very communicative with the BCHOA regarding their plans. Their plans are very different from the previously proposed plans by Tchefuncte Bluffs. Their intention is to make improvements to the property to regain the status of being “the premier marina” in this area.
Jared Rieke provided a cover letter, a few maps of the marina area, and the original material from 1982 describing the Boathouse Condominiums. The cover letter describes their plans and two of the maps illustrate the parcels involved and which parcels will be developed. The letter and maps may be found on our Facebook page or by clicking here.
Their plans will require two zoning changes that have already been requested from the parish and are on the agenda of the upcoming October 2, 2018 St. Tammany Parish Zoning Commission Meeting. The requests are items #14 and #15 on the agenda. The agenda may be found at the St. Tammany Parish website: www.stpgov.org (Select Planning and Development under the Department tab and then select Zoning Agendas.). The two cases are #2018-1189-ZC and #2018-1190-ZC. These requests mirror exactly the description of their plans in the cover letter provided to the board.
The Board does not have any specific concerns regarding these plans at this time. However, we will be monitoring the process very closely to ensure the BCHOA will not have any negative consequences as a result of these plans.
Anyone with questions regarding these plans may contact Jared Rieke directly at 985-893-8873. You may also contact Bill Maier or me for information involving the BCHOA and the marina development plans.
