The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act requires potable water suppliers to inform our customers yearly concerning the quality of the water and services that we deliver to you each day.

Beau Chene’s 2018 ANNUAL DRINKING WATER QUALITY REPORT will be published in the ST. TAMMANY FARMER newspaper on June 12, 2019.  Paper copies of this report will not be mailed but will be available at the Beau Chene Administration Office as well as on our website at bchoa.org/information/documents-forms.

Your water system staff wants you to be assured that your potable water meets and exceeds all LDHH and Federal regulations and is delivered to you as SAFE, QUALITY WATER.

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season officially began on June 1, 2019 and will end on November 30, 2019.  According to an updated outlook from the Colorado State University Tropical Meteorology Project, this year’s Atlantic hurricane season may see fewer storms and hurricanes than last year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be any less dangerous.  The forecast is predicting a “near average” season. No matter what the forecast says, this is a good time to start your preparations.

The Beau Chêne Homeowners Association’s hotline phone number is 1- (314)–272-0288.  Please make note of this hotline phone number.  This is a message only hotline to keep residents – especially evacuated residents – informed of conditions in Beau Chêne and is only active during storm events.  Please refrain from leaving messages when calling this number.
Be prepared should a hurricane evacuation be ordered by the Parish.  Make sure your car is ready in the event of a possible evacuation. Dear Homeowners and Residents:

We will be closing our Beau Chene Homeowners Association (BCHOA) office tomorrow, Wednesday, May 1st at 11:00 am. Cleco will be providing a new electric line to our office building and will, out of necessity, shut the power off to the building while the work is performed. The BCHOA office will close at 11:00 am and remain closed the rest of the day.

We expect to reopen on Thursday, May 2nd at our normal business hours of 8:00 AM till 5:00 PM (closed for lunch 12:00 – 1:00 PM).

Beau Chêne Homeowners Association (BCHOA) and Beau Chêne CC (BCCC) have partnered this year to bring you a community concert featuring the sensational sounds of “SugarBomb”. The concert is from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Saturday April 27th at the outdoor Pavilion behind the clubhouse. The concert is complimentary and BCCC will provide food and beverage stations with the ability to handle cash and BCCC charge accounts.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music! Outside food and beverages will not be permitted on the BCCC property.

To:  Beau Chene Water System Customers

As part of Beau Chene’s Public Works Operation and Maintenance program, water system operators will be flushing fire hydrants beginning Monday, April 1st and continuing through Friday, April 12th, as necessary.  This operation will be conducted at night between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The purpose of flushing the fire hydrants is to remove loose mineral deposits from the water system distribution pipes.  Flushing operations are performed on a bi-annual basis, normally early in the year and then again immediately before the local fire district conducts required hydrant flow tests for firefighting and insurance rating purposes.

If as a result of either our hydrant flushing or fire district flow testing, you experience mineral deposits in your water, please open your outdoor faucet where water enters the house, and run water slowly until it is clear.  Then slowly run your indoor faucets until your system is clear.  Problems with deposits should be minimal as Beau Chene’s potable water system has been treated to sequester these naturally occurring well water minerals since 1996.

The Mardi Gras ladder is one thing in this world that I love and hate at the same time. Clearly, there are other things I hate and love at the same time….my treadmill, the TV show “Switched at Birth” that my 10-year-old daughter is making me watch on Netflix, and the Randazzo King Cake that my wife keeps showing up with at home. The Mardi Gras ladder is a huge pain to transport across the lake and add to that I need to carry chairs, tables, coolers, paper towels, cameras, etc. My 14-year old son Preston gladly carries the Popeye’s bag full of fried chicken, my daughter Lucy carries a few empty Mardi Gras bags that she hopes to fill with beads, and my wife, Alex will usually bring a 12 pack of LaCroix (I will carry it back to the car post parade because no one will drink it on the parade route).

When the kids were little I absolutely loved the ladder. I would put Lucy and Preston in it, they were safe, secure, and in 1 spot. They were a captive audience, and had no choice but to sit there and smile for the 100 pictures we made them take. They had an unobstructed view of the best free show on earth, New Orleans Mardi Gras. Now, they want to see their friends at Mardi Gras, and I will struggle to get 1 picture of them together.

Change is inevitable; it is the train that is always on time and things are no different here in Beau Chene. When I moved to Beau Chene back in 2005 when Preston was 6 months old he was the only child around. Alex and I were the young parents. Boom, fast forward 13 years, and I am the old parent, but Alex is still the young hip mom. There are kids all over the neighborhood. My next-door neighbors, Megan and Brandon, are younger than my little sister and have the cutest little kids we have ever seen.

Change is coming fast and furious to the Beau Chene Marina. The new owners have been working tirelessly for months to get ready for the boating season which is almost here. Their new office looks fantastic, and the residents that I have spoken to in the marina are thrilled with the change. The marina entrance is also up for a complete renovation. The Department of Transportation has signed off on the new entrance and exit lanes. Matt Voelkel of MV Designs is almost done with the design of the new guard house and we can expect the construction to begin sooner than later.

The Beau Chene Homeowners Association is not immune to change. As the residents have gotten younger and younger, we have been forced to change our communications habits. The HOA now has an Instagram account, a Facebook account, and an interactive website. The board has also welcomed the opportunity to work hand in hand with the Beau Chene Country Club on community wide projects like 4^th of July Fireworks for All Residents of Beau Chene.

To all the young parents in Beau Chene who will be using Mardi Gras ladders this season I would like to give you 3 pieces of advice; 1. Strap the ladder down tight as it will be windy on the causeway. 2. Don’t leave the ladder out overnight as Mayor Cantrell has vowed to destroy them if you do. 3. Enjoy the ladder because kids at Mardi Gras are the best.

Please be on the lookout for our mailing to all homeowners soliciting candidates for the Beau Chene Homeowners Association Board of Directors. This year there will be three (3) Directors elected for a three (3) year term. The current Board of Directors consists of eleven (11) Directors. The terms of the Directors are staggered, so that the terms of approximately one-third of the Directors expire each year.

This is a great opportunity to get involved and serve our community. The mailing will have more detailed instructions and the forms to complete. A description of the duties and powers of the Directors can be found in our By-Laws in Article V – Directors. The By-Laws are on our website at http://www.bchoa.org/information/documents-forms/ . Also, copies can be obtained at the BCHOA Administrative Office.

Our Board of Director meeting dates for 2019 are: January 25^th, March 22^nd, May 10^th, June 14^th, September 13th and November 15^th. The date of the Annual Meeting is Wednesday, May 15^th.

The Eve parade rolls at 7:00 pm tonight and Orpheus rolls at 7:00 pm next Friday night.   We will close the right lane (member lane) at the Marina entrance at 5:30 pm today, February 22th and next Friday, March 1st, due to Mardi Gras parades on both evenings in Mandeville. This is an added security measure to prevent unauthorized vehicles entry into our subdivision.

The National Weather Service in Slidell is forecasting a Hazardous Weather Outlook over the next few days, with possible extremely cold temperatures, and the possibility of frozen precipitation.  Conditions could deteriorate and should be taken seriously.

• BCHOA Public Works advises that in the event of a Hard Freeze Warning, all residents should take the necessary precautions, like wrapping their pipes, to prevent them from freezing and potentially bursting.  This includes the above ground irrigation supply lines.

• The Department of Animal Services asks pet owners to take precautions to safeguard the well-being of animals in their care, including bringing pets indoors.
