If you told me that I would be quarantined with my beautiful family for 7 weeks in South Louisiana with insanely beautiful San Diego like weather, unlimited baked goods, countless streaming possibilities like Bosch Season 6 on Amazon, Waco, Outer Banks, Unorthodox & Tiger King on Netflix, and intense ping pong matches with my 2 kids, Preston and Lucy I would have told you to stop smoking left handed cigarettes, but that is exactly the life I am living, the Beau Chene Quarantine Life.

Our neighbor city, New Orleans, has been hit hard by the Covid-19 epidemic, and I can speak for all residents of Beau Chene when I say we sincerely hope they come booming back just like they did after Katrina.

There are thousands of residents in Beau Chene and many are actively involved on the front lines of healthcare.  I have known Beau Chene resident Dr. Meredith Hall for over 15 years.  She is married to Capt. Mike Hall and they have 3 beautiful children, Graydon, Grisham, and Gabby.  Dr. Hall is a physician on the actual front lines at UMC in New Orleans.  Another longtime resident, Lauren Rhodes, is also helping.  She is a pharmacist at a local pharmacy chain and is married to Allan.  They have 3 strapping young lads, Grant, Alex and Spencer.  The residents of Beau Chene would like to thank Lauren, Meredith and all Beau Chene healthcare workers during this wild and unprecedented time.

The residents of Beau Chene also need to thank the Beau Chene Country Club.  They have graciously opened their kitchen and allowed to-go orders for all residents, even those who are not members of the Beau Chene Country Club.  According to a Beau Chene foodie the best meatloaf in the world is at Beau Chene Country Club.  This Sunday the Country Club will be operating a pop-up at Marina Beau Chene where they will be selling jambalaya, coleslaw, beer and soft drinks.  They will also be offering their award-winning Cuban sandwiches, and according to my Cuban wife, Alex, that is what we are having for dinner on Sunday night.

I also need to thank the Beau Chene HOA.  While compliments are ultra-rare with any homeowner’s association, I am making a self-serving exception in this case.  The walking/jogging trails in this neighborhood have been used exponentially more than ever imagined.  Kudos to the Beau Chene HOA for having excellent foresight.  

Marina Beau Chene also needs a huge round of applause.  They have graciously opened their play area for all to enjoy.  The picnic tables, sand play area, and fish feeding station have been frequented over the last 7 weeks with parents, kids, boaters, and people looking for fresh air.  Marina Beau Chene has undergone a massive renovation, and if you have not seen it do yourself a favor and go take a ride.  You can go Sunday from 11-5, see the marina and pick up dinner offered by the Country Club.

The Beau Chene HOA would also like to thank Board Member Geoff Hingle.  In addition to his day job, husbandly duties to Bette and father to Harrison and Harper; Geoff has been integral in preparing and setting up the 2020 virtual Beau Chene Annual HOA Meeting.  You can imagine the details when you will have 500 + homeowners on a conference call.  We look forward to hosting the 2020 Beau Chene Annual HOA Meeting.  Thank you, Geoff.

Last and certainly not least the residents of Beau Chene who are attempting to homeschool their kids during this pandemic, well you deserve a round of applause and a Tito’s vodka tonic.  I think all residents have a new-found appreciation for teachers. 

We have 2 weeks left of quarantine, so let’s make the best of it.  Go outside, meet new neighbors, see the marina, get a sandwich from the country club, and enjoy.  This will not last forever, so let’s try and enjoy it.  

The residents of Beau Chene are our greatest asset.  We sincerely hope that you are enjoying your best Beau Chene life.

I want to thank all of our residents in following the safety guidelines issued by the CDC, state and parish in order to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.  Staying home and keeping an appropriate social distance from non-family members is helping during this crisis. In addition, I want to thank all of our healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers that are working on the front lines of this pandemic.  I speak for the entire community; we are very grateful for your efforts and sacrifices. You are all our Heroes!

Beau Chene Homeowners Association (BCHOA) provides essential services to our community, including water and wastewater systems, security and garbage collection.  Our main objective is to continue to provide these essential services at a high level to ensure the safety and well being of our residents.  I want to recognize and thank our entire staff for all their efforts keeping our community and essential services running. We remain operational but have made the following changes to safeguard our employees and our residents:

• Our Public Works staff members are very busy maintaining essential services.  We have flexed hours to provide coverage 7 days a week with added safety precautions to keep our staff safe and healthy.  This does limit our ability to handle some non-essential services. • The changes we made for Entry procedures for visitors at our gates have been working very well.  As a reminder the changes include:
  • Left lane/visitor lane gate arms at the East and Main entrances remain in the DOWN position 24/7.  The security officer manually opens the arm after clearing each visitor.
  • Marina entrance has only one entrance lane open.
  •  Between 8pm and 7am, any non-essential guests seeking entry into the neighborhood will require to be cleared by a resident of Beau Chene.  The resident seeking to bring in a guest should call the gate (or gates) in advance to advise the guard of the individual guest’s name.

Dear Homeowners and Residents,

In light of the recent mandatory Stay at Home Order from both the state and the parish, we are making a few changes to our entry admittance procedures for guests and visitors. These changes will impact drivers of vehicles without a Beau Chene decal and/or RFID tag that also do not have a valid temporary pass. Per the order, we are all to shelter at home unless we fall into the categories of either those providing essential services, or those leaving home in search of essential services.  Essential services include home health care, food and grocery delivery, mail and package delivery, and include many critical trades like plumbers, electricians, HVAC and other services.

Consequently, all non-essential, non-resident guests and visitors (I.e. anyone without a decal, RFID tag or valid temporary pass) will be allowed entry into Beau Chene as per the following:

Between 7am and 8pm, any non-essential guests seeking entry into the neighborhood must be able to provide the security guards at the gate with the name and property address of the resident who they are desiring to visit or are members of the Beau Chene Country Club.  Common sense would dictate that if they cannot provide this basic info, then they are either unexpected, or have no real reason to access our subdivision.   

Between 8pm and 7am, any non-essential guests seeking entry into the neighborhood will require to be cleared by a resident of Beau Chene. The resident seeking to bring in a guest should call the gate (or gates) in advance to advise the guard of the individual guest’s name.   If this is not done, the guest will be denied entry and instructed to exit the subdivision. Any potential guest denied entry during this time should be able to contact the resident they are seeking to visit and have them call the security officer at the appropriate guardhouse to gain clearance.

Curbside pick-up will be available Tuesday – Saturday from 11am to 8pm and on Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Delivery service (for a fee) – to Beau Chêne Residents only – will begin tomorrow – Thursday, March 19. In addition to the To Go menu we are also able to offer packaged beer and wine for takeout and delivery. We are offering the convenience of our curbside service to ALL Beau Chêne residents regardless if you are a member or not. A service charge will be added to all non-member curbside purchases. Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the Beau Chene Homeowners Association’s administrative offices will be closed to the general public until further notice.  However, our staff will continue to work our normal hours (Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm) and are available by phone, email and website inquiry. We are making this change to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents, visitors and staff members through this coronavirus outbreak. The Beau Chene Homeowners Association is very pleased to announce the appointment of Taylor Capouch to the Board of Directors.  Due to Paul Angelle’s recent resignation from the Board, the Board of Directors filled the vacancy at their meeting on Friday, January 31, 2020. Taylor will serve as Director for the remaining term which ends in May of 2022. The Board is very excited to have Taylor as a member.  He has a passion for the neighborhood having grown up in Beau Chene and has now found his way back home to raise his family here.   

Taylor attended the local public schools including Mandeville Elementary, Mandeville Middle, Chinchuba (now PES), Mandeville Junior High and Mandeville High School. 

“I have many fond memories of growing up in Beau Chene, including the day I learned to ride my bike on two wheels, learning how to play golf, making best friends, exploring the woods, fishing, and playing basketball in the driveway. As I got older, I remember hosting Mandeville High School spirit meetings ahead of football games, the first day I drove a car by myself out of Beau Chene and mowing the lawn to my favorite music.  All in all, Beau Chene was where my fondest family and social memories were made.”

After attending college at University of Wisconsin-Madison, Taylor stayed in Wisconsin to start his career.  Gaining valuable management and sales experience, Taylor chose to relocate back to Mandeville to focus on his growing family.  Taylor and his wife, Shannon, have two children. Their son, Kenny, is 5 years old and their daughter, Elizabeth, is now 21 months old.   

Taylor is now the Executive Director of the Kelly Gibson Foundation where he is able to focus on benefiting first responders and military personnel as well as youth athletic programming through the game of golf.  

 “I believe that Beau Chene currently is in a position of strength compared to other neighborhoods on the northshore regarding location, assets and people, and I want to take a leadership role in helping sustain and steer the neighborhood to new heights.”

ERNST DEN HARTIGH APPOINTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Den Hartigh to fill remaining term ending in May 2021

The Beau Chêne Homeowners Association is proud to announce Ernst den Hartigh as a newly appointed Director to fill the recently vacated open Board position. Ernst was approved by the Board of Directors at their meeting on Friday November 15, 2019 and will complete the remaining term which ends May of 2021. The Board is very excited to have Ernst as a member. He has a tremendous amount of leadership and board governance experience in many organizations, including oil and gas industry, non-profits and social clubs and will contribute greatly to the oversight of our association.

Ernst has been a resident of Beau Chêne for a total of fourteen years and is retired from Shell International and Shell Deepwater US. He is currently the co-founder of an oil and gas start-up exploration & production company. He has been married to Sonja den Hartigh for thirty-six years and they have two sons, Jasper and Dennis. Jasper lives in Austin, TX. and Dennis lives in Atlanta, GA. Ernst and Sonja have been members of the Beau Chene Country Club since 2003 and enjoy playing golf and participating in the social events.

Ernst believes that “Beau Chene has matured over time into a very precious living environment where space, comfort, nature and sports (particularly golf) co-exist in harmony and where personal safety is of the highest standard. Essential for maintaining this, is a vibrant homeowner’s community and healthy social club (Country Club).” Ernst is highly motivated to help maintain this environment and strengthen the link between the homeowners and the social/sports club.

Beau Chêne was established in 1974 and is considered one of the premier residential communities in Louisiana. As a private, gated community comprised of 1,550 home and condominium lots in the northern part of the New Orleans Metropolitan Area, Beau Chêne has an approximate population of 4,500 persons.
