Storm Debris Removal Update in Beau Chene

Dear Homeowners and Residents,

The parish debris contractor has suspended debris cleanup during the week of Thanksgiving. Debris cleanup will resume on Monday, November 29, 2021. Three of the large debris trucks will be returning on Monday, November 29th. In addition, the pickup of the construction & demolition (C&D) debris and white debris (appliances) will also resume this coming Monday.

There are a few streets and several cul de sacs that have not had vegetative debris removal due to the narrow width of the street and/or low overhanging tree branches that have prevented them from picking up some debris with the trucks. These streets include Plantation Lane, Plantation Drive, Magnolia Lane, Bonfouca Lane, Bonfouca Place, Kiskatom Lane and Audubon Lane. The contractor will be bringing in additional equipment (skid steers) to pick up debris piles in these areas. This effort will also start next week.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout this recovery effort.

Sincerely,
Cristina Donovan, CAO

Keeping You Informed: Storm Debris Removal in Beau Chene

Dear Homeowners and Residents,

We have just received word from St. Tammany Parish that their debris removal contractor will pick up vegetative (green) debris in Beau Chene starting the week of October 18th.

The different types of debris MUST BE SEPERATED in piles and placed near the curb and/or on the home side of the drainage ditches.  Debris contractors and Parish Public Works crews will not pickup bagged debris.  Any bagged debris must be separated and placed in an area where our waste management contractor, Northshore Disposal, will pick up on the designated trash days.

Keeping You Informed – Storm Debris Removal in Beau Chene

Beau Chene’s storm debris removal is now covered under St. Tammany Parish’s debris removal contract.  We are awaiting news from the parish regarding a timeline to commence the debris removal in Beau Chene.  We believe it will start within a few weeks, if not sooner.  The parish’s goal is to have debris pickup completed by the end of October.

Debris pickup will include vegetative (green) debris, white debris (appliances), and construction and demolition debris (sheetrock, baseboards, etc…).  The different types of debris MUST BE SEPERATED in piles and placed near the curb and/or on the home side of the drainage ditches.  FEMA contractor will not pickup electronics, hazardous waste or household garbage in Beau Chene.

  • Do not place debris in the road, drainage systems, on top of water meters or against trees, mailboxes, fences, fire hydrants, utility poles or gas meters. The contractors are using very large pieces of equipment to pick up these piles. Placing debris piles by these structures make removal difficult and dangerous.

  • Place debris in large piles.

  • Combining multiple small piles from neighbors together to make larger ones is more efficient.

  • Vegetative (green) debris MUST NOT include plastic bags

Here is a link to the St. Tammany Parish website debris removal page: http://www.stpgov.org/debris This page provides answers to frequently asked questions.  Also, see the below FEMA guide to identify the different types of debris that must be separated.
